400th Folksmarch!

The 400th Folksmarch may have been damp and chilly, but the hearts were warm, umbrellas were up and it was a good time for all. For over 30 years the YMCA has had the Folksmarch or People's March. Walt and Peg Price saw this in Germany brought it here and it's a good way to exercise. 

This Folksmarch was a little different in that everyone walked together. We started off with an accordian player to lead the way.

We finished off with refreshments.

Senior photo season is upon us!

We all know how important Senior photos are. 

We want to help a couple of upcoming seniors out. We're giving away two Senior Sessions. One for a lucky fellow and one for a lucky gal. Two seniors will get a free session and  4 two 8x10 prints. That's 90 minutes of camera time wherever they would like their photos taken in Central New York.

All you need to do to be entered into the drawing is tell us why you would be a good ambassador for Oracle On Delhi Studios. Leave your comment right here at the bottom. We'll randomly pick a guy and a gal on June 1st.

We're in such a great mood that spring is here, you can nominate your favorite Senior-to-be. Just leave us a comment below and we'll put their name in the hat for the drawing.

Fall Mini-Sessions

We are opening up 8 Mini Sessions this Saturday. They will be here in Jordan along the canal park with fall colors!

The Mini Sessions are $50 for a half hour time slot and we'll give you an 8x10 print from the session for free.

Reserve your session now! They won't last long.

The Mini Sessions start at 9AM Saturday in Jordan.  

Cornell Field Trip

On Tuesday last week we went on a homeschool field trip to Cornell University. We visited Wilson Lab at Cornell. That might not seem like a big deal until you find out that Wilson Lab is the where the Synchrotron is located. Here's a link that gets into the details about it: http://www.chess.cornell.edu/

It was a very cool trip they gave us a tour of the facility and we even went down in the tunnel where the ring is.

We visited several buildings on campus throughout the day and finished with a chimes concert in the chimes tower in the library. 

It was a fun day with with family.

Mission Control, we have success!

We've been chasing the comet all month. Last night, we pulled into a parking area next to a local business spotted the comet, snapped a couple of pics and it disappeared into the growing haze at the horizon.

Jupiter also had  a close encounter with the moon last night.

It got closer to the moon around midnight, It became a trio: Jupiter, moon and Aldebaran. 

As excited as the kids were for the comet and the moon, the CSX train was far more interesting, loud, big and moving!

Super Moon

I got the chance to get out and shoot the Super moon. It looked like it was going to be a bust, but the skies cleared just in time and I was able to get some great images.

I think the clouds may have made a more interesting image though. Here's the moon breaking free and looking little like a Batman symbol.

The best image of all is the moon peeking through above the Hourigan's Dairy Farm in Elbridge.

Irish Step 2012

Working on a coffee table book from today's Irish Step dancing. Here's all the girls in the school.

Sun Dogs! I am always fascinated by sun dogs and why they form. This morning at about 8:50 AM I spied a sun dog and then the one on the other side. I kept glancing at it, and saw it was a whole arc. Next was finding a place that was safe enough to pull to the side of the road and get a picture.

We wandered around Algiers Point after dark a couple of nights, and enjoyed the Christmas lights on the shotgun style houses.

Eagle Wings Academy took over Eastern Hills Church for a night to host a Battle of the Bands. Great, great music for all and for a great cause.

Ground Blizzards

 The wind was brutal, snow was blowing horizontal. That's the time to get some great shots of the weather.

 I like the blue cast on these from the white balance settings. The one above might be a little more blue than I'd like, but it works.

The best part is that I shot these from the comfort of a warm van.

Eagles

The eagles are back on Onondaga Lake and with the weather warming, I needed to get down there to see them. They were there, but sitting around in the trees. They are so big, it's amazing.

Ice Berries

Just one of the winter wonders around the yard at this time of year. Those thorns look pretty big, but they are only about a half inch long, they do hurt though! This bush has to get trimmed regularly because it grows into the sidewalk!
